After its reveal last summer, the 2021 Ford Bronco off-road SUV had 190,000 reservations. However, Ford has not been able to keep up with the demand amid the semiconductor chip shortage and hardtop production/quality issues. Although, it appears things are improving rapidly as 2021 Ford Bronco inventories shot up 200% in September with a 26.4% increase in sales.
Last month, 77% of Ford’s total sales went to all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive vehicles. In August, Ford announced that all unscheduled 2021 Bronco Hardtop Orders would be moved to the 2022 model years. This unfortunate decision was made after quality problems were discovered with the MIC hardtops manufactured by Webasto. Ford decided to replace all MIC tops with new ones, which are expected to arrive in October. Ford Authority reported that these tops started shipping a few weeks ago.
Customers of unscheduled hardtop orders finally started receiving production emails last week. These developments indicate that Bronco production is improving rapidly, which is good news for those who are still waiting to receive their new SUV.
