The Bronco already has settings called “GOAT Mods” that allow you to “Go Over Any Type Of Terrain.” These settings adjust computer parameters such as throttle response, shift points, and traction control to increase grip in harsh adventurous conditions. As a nod towards the Bronco Raptor’s high-speed desert runs, the 3.0-liter engine now has a “Baja Mode.”
Baja Mode borrows a feature from the Ford GT to increase power. The “anti-lag” feature keeps the Bronco’s turbos spinning to reduce any loss of boost pressure when the throttle is released. Anti-lag is a technique used to adjust an engine’s timing, which determines where spark and fuel ignite relative to the crankshaft’s rotation.
Baja mode means that the Bronco won’t close its throttle body if the driver presses the accelerator pedal. It forces the butterfly valve to open wide. This allows the turbochargers compressor wheels to maintain their rotational speed and have less lag when drivers step back on the throttle. This performance feature enables the Bronco Raptor to keep in contact with the ground when going over bumps at high speed. When paired with a powerful twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, the Ford Bronco Raptor is every outdoor enthusiast’s dream vehicle.
