Ford’s new Bronco SUV family redefines off-road performance. The new Bronco lineup includes suspension designs that enhance driving performance on all terrains without compromising on-road control and drivability. The 2022 Ford Bronco models are equipped with HOSS (High-Performance Off-Road Suspension). This includes independent front suspension, higher coil springs at every corner for increased articulation, and HOSS-tuned heavy-duty dampers to improve on-road stability.
High-Performance Off-Road Suspension
Compared to solid front axle designs, the modern off-road Bronco design decreases the unsprung front axle’s weight by up to 20% (or up to 42 lbs,) giving you a better ride and consistent tire-to-surface contact. It also features a three-mode electronic-assist rack and pinion steering, providing better on-center steering, precision off-road, and minimizing steering wheel kickback.
The Bronco also adds a compliant coil-over progressive rate springs for pitch control. A five-link geometry 220-millimeter (8.6-inch) solid axle is balanced for maximum payload capacity. Plus, a stabilizer bar-delete allows for additional articulation. Three-zone position-sensitive dampers, available in higher-capability models, can be added to provide greater rear pitch control and lower head toss in off-road environments. They also increase suspension articulation when in low-speed settings.
