The 2022 Ford Bronco has become an off-road enthusiast favorite for its blazing performance, muscular design, and extraordinary off-road capabilities. Ford has taken the Bronco to a new level with the all-new Ford Bronco Raptor—a high-performance off-road edition of the SUV that is genuinely in a class of its own.
Performance Capabilities
Ford’s Bronco Raptor features a 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 that cranks out 418 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, enabling the high-performance SUV to surmount rugged terrains and harsh off-road conditions easily.
The standard Bronco offers two engine options: a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that generates 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque and a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces 330 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. The four-cylinder engine can be coupled with a 7-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission, but the twin-turbo V6 is only offered with the 10-speed automatic transmission. All configurations of the Bronco lineup come standard with four-wheel drive (4WD)
How Much Can the Bronco Tow Compared to the Bronco Raptor?
All Broncos models have six G.O.A.T. modes, but the Raptor has an additional 7th mode for towing. The Raptor’s exclusive tow/haul mode allows it to pull 4,500 pounds. However, the standard Bronco can still haul up to an impressive 3,500 pounds.
Exterior Features That Scream “WOW”
The standard Bronco is available in two- and four-door body styles, while the Raptor comes only as a four-door. The front grille on the standard model boasts “BRONCO” lettering, while the Raptor displays an iconic two-piece grille with prominent amber lights. The Ford Raptor’s hood has vents and a carbon-black finish, unlike the standard Bronco’s simple hood. The wheels on the normal Bronco range in size from 30 to 35 inches; however, the Ford Raptor comes with 37-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires — the largest ever fitted to a production SUV. It also offers unique heavy-duty full-vehicle steel bash plates, tow hooks in front and rear, and a manual swing gate with additional exoskeleton reinforcement that swings up to 150 degrees.
Bronco Raptor Updated Suspension
The Ford Bronco’s superb off-road capabilities are due to its advanced suspension systems. The standard Bronco comes with High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS), which provides excellent stability and control for high-speed off-roading. The Bronco Raptor is fitted with a suspension system that Ford Performance has further developed. The system includes an upgraded HOSS 4.0 system with Live Valve technology, which also includes FOX 3.1 Internal Bypass Semi-Active Dampers (3.1-inch diameter) with integrated reservoirs at the front and remote reservoirs at the rear. The system allows for wheel travel of up to 13.0 inches up front and 14.0 inches at the back, along with several sensors that adjust the suspension accordingly.

The Bronco Raptor is bigger than the standard Ford Bronco. It’s 191 inches long, 85.7 inches wide, and 77.8 inches tall from the outside. The regular Bronco is 189.4 inches long, 75.9 inches wide, and 73 inches tall from the outside. The Bronco Raptor has an increased ground clearance of 13.1 inches compared to the regular Bronco’s 8.3 inches. While the wheelbase of both SUVs is 116.1 inches.
